This heartwarming thirty-day devotional is inspired by letters, prayers, and poems written by the inmates, parents, volunteers, and caregivers. Scottie dedicates this devotional and her previous one, Silent Victims: God’s Light in a Child’s Dark World of Incarceration, to “The Lord Jesus Christ, my strength and my provider. There is no greater love than that of our Heavenly Father. He is more precious than all that we have and all that we are.”
It is comforting to know that during our darkest times of loneliness and loss or when we experience overwhelming feelings of disconnectedness and frustration, God never leaves us. God loves us and can use us for His own purposes.
We really appreciate what you all did for us, giving us two great days to learn and be better fathers to our children. Seeing our kids again was an emotional but great moment we’ll treasure forever. You all are truly doing God’s work and bringing joy to people’s lives.
Love in Christ,
The Fathers of Dan River Prison Work Farm
Forgiven Ministry’s mission is to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the children of inmates, the inmates themselves, ex-inmates, and inmates’ families. With the result of healing wounds inflicted by crime, redirecting lives, and restoring these individuals into the community as productive citizens, parents, and family members, Forgiven Ministry is showing the love of Christ in a tangible way.
